Aaaaaaah the elopement…a beautiful and magical way of saying “I do”. The more I research and discover this concept of an elopement, the more it fascinates me. It is such a unique and amazing way to completely personalize your wedding, and I understand more and more why so many couples are choosing to do it, and differing from the norm of having a traditional secular wedding.
Elopements are very similar to traditional secular ceremonies in the sense that they enable one to create a ceremony entirely from scratch, without rules or obligations. However, elopements are generally shorter and put more focus on the intimacy and privacy of the moment that the couple is sharing. A huge advantage is that one can elope absolutely ANYWHERE – a mountain top, the middle of a lake, in a forest…you name it, and it can happen. Not only does an elopement give you the ability to choose your location, it also makes the planning process A LOT easier. The amount of organization needed for an elopement is minor. There are little logistical plans that need to be made. There aren’t dozens of guests that need to be seated and catered for. AND on top of that, you won’t have family members telling you how do things, or blaming you for not inviting some distant Great Uncle. We all know that planning a big amazing wedding can be overwhelming and come with a lot of stress. So why not elope and have a beautiful day that is serene and special solely for you and your significant other?
Managing budget is also an additional advantage to an elopement. You’re no longer having to pay for a huge venue, or the catering costs, or chair and table rentals. Therefore, it’s easier to budget for the smaller things that will make your day perfect, such as a videographer/photographer, so that you can look back and remember this beautiful day for a lifetime.
A Magical Renewal of Vows at the Beau-Rivage – Feb. 2017
As I have previously mentioned, having a wedding in a big beautiful hotel is becoming a more common option of interest, especially with elopements. I quickly understood why (and you will too), after having celebrated the most beautiful renewal of vows at the Geneva Beau-Rivage Hotel in February.
This was a magical moment, beautifully organized by wedding planner, Kristell Calvez of A Very Special Day, and wonderfully photographed by Christelle Naville. They are an endearing couple who have been in love with each other for years and years and are now parents to a sweet young boy. This ceremony moved me as it was filled with such elegance and detail. It felt as if we were experiencing being in a real-life Pinterest board. The love they have for each other was felt throughout the room and it could not have been any more magical.
It can be hard to imagine what this ceremony looked like. Sometimes pictures are better than words…so below are some pictures to show you what this spectacular ceremony entailed (click on the pictures for better quality).
